Philip was educated at Charterhouse and Bristol University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Classics.
In 1981 he joined the family business, Williams Lea, as a financial printing salesman. Williams Lea was a diversified printing group in those days and Philip gained experience of many different roles and businesses in the following years.
In 1989 he was promoted to the main board with responsibility for the burgeoning facilities management business and was centrally involved in the successful reorientation of the company away from printing towards business process outsourcing.
In 2003 he led the management buyout of Perivan and has served as Chairman and CEO since then.
